June 2022 – Webinar on the Presentation of Results on the Effectiveness of Four Front-of-Package Nutritional Labeling Systems and Prepackaged Non-Alcoholic Beverages in Costa Rica.
Concern is raised about the increasing rates of obesity and diabetes, partially attributed to the promotion of unhealthy products, especially those targeted at children.
This is the first study in Costa Rica to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of different front-of-package food labeling systems. The results show that octagonal warning labels were the most effective in influencing purchase intentions and consumer understanding of nutritional information.
