The President of the Senate, Eva Copa, enacted the Law on Prevention and Control of Consumption of Tobacco Products.
In a brief speech, Copa highlighted that the law was developed in consensus with experts and that its value will lie in the prevention of diseases linked to tobacco consumption.
Among other aspects, the law prohibits smoking or keeping a lit tobacco product in closed public places, indoor workplaces such as: health establishments, public institutions, private companies destined for any type of industrial, commercial and service activity , including its customer service areas and waiting rooms, shopping centers, air terminals, land, water and mass transit stations, public transportation, libraries, reading rooms, museums and internet rooms, among others.
